We Were Not Born Women
What, do you think, made you a girl? Was it a favorite baby, a dress you loved to twirl in, a baseball you stole from your brother's room, or some little treasure found or passed down? What sealed the deal for you? Bobby pins? Perfume? Lipstick?

I want to see what people out in the world hold dear as their feminine pleasure. It doesn't have to be girly, but it should have clicked some switch in you that said "GIRL." This is not about sexuality, but about gender - how you relate as the gender with which you identify and what you hold dear. Now here's what I need from YOU.

Drop me an email, or visit me through the Contact page here and tell me what it was that made your little heart go pitter pat. Tell me why you loved it, if you still have it, if you've replaced it if it's gone, when did you get it and how...essentially I want the love story of how you met this amazing object that made you who you are today. I WILL NOT ask you to send me anything, but please describe it well - description, color, size, material, even smell! I'll compile the closest visual matches I can and create a visual cataloging system of these objects.

Unclear? Check out my 2007 series Object Portraiture.

I love working with strangers and friends on projects, so here's a new one. If I use names, I only use first names, and I'm happy to provide a more official document stating what it is that I want from you for this project and what you should expect me to do with this information you send. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you're concerned about privacy or usage.

Thanks for sharing....I can't wait to hear about your treasures!
